Funk Studies No. 1 - Lesson 26

In this drum lesson we are looking at an introduction to funk drumming. Funk drumming requires more independence than playing straight ahead pop as drummers have to play more snare drum and bass drum notes off the beat.

Funk drumming is great to play but does require a good amount of technique. We are playing eighth notes, sixteenth notes and groups of three sixteenth notes. We are opening the hi hats on the '+' of each beat in exercise five.
