Drum Fill Ideas
Drum Fills are what we play to get from one section of music to another. There is no set duration for a drum fill so it could be just part of one beat or it could be two or three bars long.
What we need to be able to do is play ‘musically’, so we play with relevance to other instruments and sounds.
Drum Fills can be very simple or extremely complicated and the only way to really get good at the more advanced fills, or to develop any fills, is to practice various stickings, phrases, techniques and exercises repetitively until the muscle memory takes over so we can think less and therefore enjoy it more.
