Buzz / Press Roll - Lesson 81

In this drum lesson we are playing a buzz roll, or press roll, on the snare drum. We can hold the drum sticks much looser to play this and we need to keep the sticks very low.

Making sure we hold the drum sticks at the correct balance point to make the most of the natural rebound - the harder we press - the louder the snare will buzz. Drummers need to practice crescendoing and decrescendoing to really be able to control the buzz roll.
